Fest Review


Daniel Nord from Maxar Technologies and our CEO Michael Putz have been part of the geospatial panel discussion during Unreal Fest and gave a very inspiring talk about the real-world metaverse.

David Cardella from Esri started the discussion by saying: “We need real-world data to solve real-world problems for disaster relief or urban planning, for instance.”

We could not agree more with Brady Moore from Cesium when he said: “We have tons of data and tons of sensors out there. But to be able to make the right decisions, we need open standards, open data, and interoperability.”

Daniel Nord from Maxar Technologies emphasized the need for satellites to provide global-scale data, and Maxar had been providing a 2D view of the globe for decades. “But now Blackshark and Maxar building a 3D Twin of the globe that looks real.“

"We started with Open Worlds for video gaming 20 years ago. The whole globe was a dream back then. But for me, it was just a question that the real and virtual worlds will meet and match. Now we are there!", said our CEO, Michael Putz.

In the end, Michael invited environmental artists to try to use blackshark.ai sample data and mix it with Quixel or their own content to show what is possible by mixing our procedural, semantic globe with high-fidelity content.

As a sneak peeks for the upcoming Blackshark Globe Plugin for Unreal Engine 5, Maxar and blackshark.ai released a blackshark.ai SYNTH3D demo of New Orleans as a Windows app.
